Chic Resto-Pop: New Community Practice in Quebec
This paper examines shifts in community practice in Québec including the linking of economic and social development through an examination of a successful community restaurant - Chic Resto-Pop. The article situates this project in the context of changing economic processes and social policy. The development of this community cafeteria and the related training programs are described and analyzed. Conflicts emerge between the state's funding and definition of the training of those on social assistance and the social and economic perspective of those running this community restaurant.
