Computation of the Influence Lines for Lateral Load Distribution in Straight, Skew and Horizontally Curved Bridges
This paper not only deals with the rigid-diaphragm method criteria for computing the lateral load distribution in straight, skew and horizontally curved bridges, but also presents formulae for calculating specified girder influence lines for lateral load distribution. As diaphragms are considered to be supports to main girders with the properties of bending and torsional springs, the required influence lines expressions for lateral load distributions in straight, skew and horizontally curved bridges may be attained. An illustrative example is given of the rigid diaphragm method by computing the influence lines for lateral load distribution for horizontally curved bridges.
