An Analysis Technique for Long-Span Cable-Stayed Bridges
Long-span cable-stayed bridges have been growing in importance in the last few decades. The behaviour of this bridge type under vertical load is studied, and a structural model for its analysis is presented. The model accounts for the nonlinearity of the cables and is shown to represent the actual behaviour of the bridge deck with sufficient accuracy. It detects the loss of stability of the girders under high axial loads and overcomes it. Some numerical results are also presented.
