A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A new statistical approach utilizing the technique of particle swarm optimization (PSO) is developed to determine the parameters of equivalent linearization method. Six numerical experiments are conducted to investigate the validity and efficiency of four PSO algorithms. Analyses indicate that the PSO algorithms utilized improve the parameter solving efficiency to a great extent. With the similar evaluation precision, the computation demanding of PSO with the constriction factor is about 0.1% of that of the traditional procedure. As an application, equations of the equivalent system parameters of bilinear SDOF systems are deduced with the assumption of constant strength reduction ratio.
