Noise Radiation by Rotating Machine Subject to Angular Misalignment
Rotating machine dysfunction is often caused by shaft misalignment. This defect generates concentrated or distributed loads that produce vibrations and noise. These vibrations depend on the machine itself through the transfer function while the noise is a function of the machine environment. The objective of this paper is to study the noise generated by shaft misalignment. A numerical model, describing a spinning system, capable of computing mechanical vibrations and noise radiations resulting from the defect, is developed.
