Spatial spillover effects of transportation infrastructure on urbanization
An in-depth and comprehensive study of the spatial spillover effects of transportation infrastructure will help to better understand the factors of uneven development among different regions in China, so that it can play a better role in the process of China's urbanization. Using multiple indicator data of 30 provinces in China from 2001 to 2019, and by constructing a spatial econometric model, this paper empirically measures the spatial spillover effect of China's transportation infrastructure (highway, railways) on regional urbanization development. The study found that the spatial spillover effect of transportation infrastructure on urbanization is very significant, and the roles of different types of transportation infrastructure in the process of urbanization in China are different. The construction of highways and railways will directly promote regional urbanization. At the same time, because of its network and external characteristics, the impact of transportation infrastructure construction on the urbanization of surrounding areas is also worth considering.
