Zinc-Based Anodes for Cathodic Protection of Reinforced Concrete Structures
Corrosion of steel is the biggest durability issue for the reinforced concrete structure and results in structural failure. Out of the available protection techniques, cathodic protection has proven to be the most efficient corrosion prevention technique in chloride contaminated structure. The most vital component of the technique is applied anodes. Zinc-based anodes are preferred in reinforced concrete structures. This paper reviews several types of zinc-based cathodic protection anodes available, their use, application, and service life.
