The Association of Neighbourhood Aesthetics with Physical Activity in Gated and Non-gated Neighbourhoods in Developing Countries
Neighborhood Aesthetics are considered important for enhancing the physical activity among people and gated neighborhoods have more aesthetical features than non-gated. The objective of this study is to compare the association of perceived aesthetics and perception of physical activity (PoPA) in gated and non-gated neighborhoods in developing countries. Sixteen neighborhoods and 1042 participants were selected from Karachi, Pakistan. Results show that both the perceived aesthetics and PoPA are significantly higher and dependent on each other in gated neighborhoods than non-gated neighborhoods of developing countries. Therefore, it can be concluded that the future neighborhoods should have aesthetical feature for encouraging PA.
