Abstract While Guarino Guarini is well known as an architect, his intellectual work was not limited to architecture, and three of his publications concern astronomy. This present paper concentrates on the first part of the 1683 Coelestis mathematicae. It appears clear that Guarini refused to take any official position in defence of either heliocentricity or geocentricity.
