Linking Microstructural Behavior with Macrostructural Observations on Unsaturated Porous Media
Abstract Explaining and predicting the macrostructural behavior of porous media containing air and water phases is of paramount importance. This is not only important for understanding the behavior of unsaturated soils, but it certainly has true impact on engineering applications such as CO2 sequestration, gels and food industry. In this paper we elaborate particularly on the hydraulic relationships between the porous network of a material and the macroscopical consequences that this has on the mechanics of unsaturated soils.
