Monitoring the Horizontal Displacement by Soil-Cement Columns Installation
Abstract It is generally accepted that the installation of soil-cement columns causes almost no soil compaction in surrounding strata. Combined with the field test, the disturbance of the soil-cement columns installation to the surrounding strata is introduced in this paper. The displacement of surrounding strata is monitored by inclinometer on site and the monitoring results show that: The installation of soil-cement columns have a certain effect to surrounding strata; The direction of horizontal displacement of lateral ground caused by soil-cement columns installation is along the side of soil-cement columns; The horizontal displacement of lateral ground decreases with the increase of horizon distance and depth; The influence range along the depth is approximately the same as the length of column, maximum displacement occurs at the surface of soil, the horizontal displacement is close to zero below the bottom of the columns; The installation effect of soil-cement columns can be reduced by reasonable control of the construction sequence.
