Some problems in operation of the Kiev pumped-storage station
Conclusions 1. Forced mechanical closing of the guide vanes of reversible units is not a reliable measure for reducing vibrations; investigations to determine the possibility of eliminating the causes of vibration are needed. 2. A further search for reliable solutions providing release of air from the region of the runner during starts of the reversible units in a pump regime is needed. 3. The delivery of air into the region of the runner of a reversible unit provides a stable decrease of hydrodynamic fluctuations of pressure in the entire flow part, including the penstock, during operation in a turbine regime and during dropping of the load. 4. It is necessary to develop technological design standards for pumped-storage plants, reflecting in them the specific requirements imposed on the reliability of all types of equipment, selection of the number of units, safety conditions of the personnel, etc. 5. It is necessary to develop a method for determining the cost effectiveness of pumped-storage stations and a system of technicoeconomic indices characterizing the effectiveness of using pumped-storage stations in power systems.
