Application of Computer Modeling for the Accident Rate Assessment on Separate Sites of the Mohe–Daqing Oil Pipeline in Permafrost Conditions
The object of the investigation was the section of East Siberia–Pacific Ocean pipeline, Mohe–Daqing oil pipeline, which is operated under harsh climatic conditions. To prevent accidents, careful risk assessment is needed. The ANSYS software was used to calculate heat flow and heat deformation for three ways of pipeline laying: above the ground, semi-submerged, and underground. Pipeline wall thickness was 14.2 mm and 11.9 mm. During analysis, it was found that there was no significant difference in heat flow and thermal deformation for given wall thicknesses. The heat flow and heat stress were found to be greater for above the ground pipeline sites. Therefore, preventive measures should be undertaken to maintain the pipeline in operating conditions.
