Preparative Knowledge of Numerical Analysis
This chapter is devoted to provide the basic knowledge of numerical analysis for the elaboration and discussion of following chapters concerning advanced CMs. Starting with the floating-point arithmetic, numerical stability is understood as the core in the study and application of CMs in addition to precision. The mainstream numerical techniques such as the interpolation/approximation/integration and the solution of ODEs/PDEs/IEs, are detailed. The fundamental CMs such as FDM and FEM are particularly employed to exemplify the power of numerical analysis.
