Design of Minkowski Curve-Based Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna Using Artificial Neural Network
This paper deals with design of microstrip patch antenna (MPA) with Minkowski curve-based hybrid fractal slot on the radiating patch, for the applications in C and X frequency bands. The main aim of this research work is to estimate the dimensions of the fractal slot using artificial neural network (ANN). The ANN is trained with three parameters: resonant frequency, S11 and gain as input, and two parameters: length and width of hybrid slot as output. The FR4 glass epoxy is used as substrate material for the design and fabrication of the proposed antenna. The proposed antenna is designed on partial ground plane having size 32.92 mm × 46.85 mm. The HFSS software is used for the simulation of the proposed antenna, and MATLAB software is used for the implementation of ANN model. The results of ANN are validated with experimental results of the proposed antenna. The ANN results and measured results of the proposed antenna are found in agreement with each other.
