Advances on Fault Tree and Event Tree Techniques
Abstract This paper refers to a previous lecture note /1/ which explains the basics of fault tree and event tree methodologies. The mathematical analysis of fault trees is presented in more detail. Furthermore, a more in depth discussion is given on issues which were only briefly mentioned in the first lecture note, such as 1) the analysis of non-coherent fault trees; 2) the importance calculations; 3) the analysis of event trees. Although a prior knowledge of the basic issues is needed to understand this note, it was tried to produce a self-contained text for what concerns the treated issues, even if this led to some repetition with respect to the first note.
