Geotechnical Properties of Hai Phong and Ninh Binh Clays in the Red River Delta
Nowadays, many infrastructures are increasingly and continuously developed all over the Red River Delta (RRD), which is founded on a soft clay deposit of low strength and high compressibility. In this paper, geological and geotechnical data were collected at two project sites, i.e., BTMV Bridgestone project in Hai Phong and Kyoei Steel project in Ninh Binh, and analyzed to help understand better the sea level rise-related formation, distribution and geotechnical properties of Red River delta soft clays at these study sites. The comparison of soil parameters at two study sites was made and some correlations between their geotechnical properties were found. Such relationships can be used for estimation of some missing geotechnical parameters in the nearby projects or whenever needed.
