The System “Railway Infrastructure”
The system “railway infrastructure” can be described by three basic constituents: the capacity of the network, the substance and the quality of infrastructure (Figure 114) [77]:
Capacity (maximal number of operable and marketable train-paths in a given time span, on a given part of the network),
Substance (average remaining life time of infrastructure components) and
Quality (quality of track’s geometry and of its components).
