Reliability Analysis of Elastoplastic Structures
Abstract Structural safety analysis methods based on the theory of structural reliability include models and algorithms to evaluate the probability of failure. When probability theory is applied to structural engineering, loads and strengths are considered as uncertain quantities. Early efforts [1] considered the reliability of the fundamental case in which all uncertainty in loads was grouped into a single random variable and all uncertainty in strengths was grouped into another random variable. These studies had the main goal to determine the influence on the reliability of the distribution shapes, the coefficient of variation and safety factors.
