Reliability Evaluation Methods for Systems with Complex Limit States
Abstract For the structural systems with complex limit state functions, the estimation by AFOSM method may yield large error because of the approximation at only one design point. In this paper, an algorithm named FOSMUOP3 is developed to systematically find multiple check points on the limit state surface. Then the limit state functions are linearized at the selected points or multiple importance sampling density functions are defined at U-space based on those points. The proposed methods are applied to the reliability analysis of some systems, and their features are compared and discussed.
