Modern Methods of Construction
This chapter defines the concept of modern construction methods and introduces the basic elements leading to efficient and sustainable solutions, such as wood-based constructions. The idea and execution of environmentally and more energy-efficient structures are supported by modern methods of construction (Modern Methods of Construction, hereafter only as MMC). Modern methods of construction are defined as technologies which provide efficient processes (of design and construction) resulting in a larger volume of products (production) with a higher quality and shorter procurement time. Their goal is to enhance construction efficiency through improving quality, customer satisfaction, shortening construction time, improving sustainability and reducing the negative impact of structures and construction processes themselves on the environment. The reaction to the trend of sustainable and efficient construction is undoubtedly wooden buildings.
