Abstract The masonry partition walls cracks of multiple floors buildings, particularly, have been worrying users and technical community. This paper describes a case study analysis of coatings and masonry partition walls cracks in a multifloor building in the São Paulo city, in Brazil. The methodology used for solving the problems considered: collecting data, diagnosis of the situation and solving procedure. It is believed, therefore, that the description of the diagnosis and the application of the methodological outline contribute to the wider dissemination of knowledge, pointing out alternatives to the resolution of the pathological problems.
