Review of Earthquake Resilience and Safety in Building Construction
An earthquake is an unexpected hazardous event that can turn into a catastrophic disaster. It strikes the building, which causes waves from the ground towards the structure that reduces the strength of the foundation and may lead to a collapse. Dehradun city comes under the seismic zone IV that tends to be high-risk zone. This paper reviews on building structural acts, rules, building byelaw of town and country planning department and action plans of disaster management. Some of the technologies that can be implemented in the next few years for earthquake resistant construction and techno-legal framework have also been described.
