A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Features of hydraulic engineering installations designed for seismic effects and choice of standard parameters characterizing seismic loads
Conclusions 1. Use of the linear spectral theory of seismic resistance for hydraulic engineering installations provides a fairly complete consideration of their dynamic behavior under seismic effects and is favored. 2. Scientific research must be carried out for clarifying the strength margins on installations, considering on the one hand the short duration of the effect, and on the other hand, the adaptability of the installations. 3. Calculations of analog accelerograms may be included in the standards, only by employing the dynamic strength characteristic of the materials, development of design procedures, taking into account the elastic-plastic deformation of the structures, and so on. 4. The seismicity factors for hydraulic engineering installations should be raised above those recommended in SNiP II-A12-62, taking into account the main trend towards changing over to calculations based on limit states and to higher design characteristics of the materials.
