Salt Water Corrosion Behaviour of Composite Coated Al-6061 Developed Through HVOF
The HVOF method was used to develop a composite coating of TiC + 10%Cr2O3 on the surface of the plates of Al-6061. The coatings' corrosion behaviour was assessed using ASTM standards. The corrosion behaviour was studied using SEM and XRD, after a simple salt spray test. The corrosion rates and anodic and cathodic polarisations were evaluated using a Potentiodynamic polarisation test and Tafel plots. The resistance to corrosion of the specimens were assessed using the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy test and Nyquist plots. The corrosion performance research revealed that the composite coating had low corrosion and provided good corrosion resistance to the substrates, during the testing.
