Making the joints in concrete dams monolithic
Conclusions 1. The derived values of the hydraulic resistances may and now should be used for computing the hydraulic regime and the technological parameters, for grouting construction joints through a system of linear outlets and air-exhaust slots, and for designing the constructional elements of grouting systems, and, after developing appropriate techniques, also for designing grouting setups employing, a system of point outlets. 2. For grouting construction joints extensive application of grouts prepared in high-speed mixers should be recommended, as the dispersion of grouts reduces considerably the risk of blocking outlets during injection. 3. Analysis of the resistance values obtained also leads to the conclusion that it would be possible to grout construction joints by the filling-in method, using a thick stable grout fed through a system of vertical linear outlets (Fig 2c); however, before applying this method under practical conditions, systematic investigations should be conducted on larger test setups.
