The outbreak of technology in the architect’s profession is continually causing adjustments to the teaching of our subjects that we should not avoid, given their importance. Today, the computer-software binomial tends to become the vehicle for the integration of the contents of the project and its construction, surpassing the concept of mere instrument that allows design.
The figure of the architect is essential to the creation of architecture. There is no computer or software that can produce it - at least not yet - without the knowledge, research and intervention of the technician. It is necessary to convince the student of this matter. We are obliged to train future architects who are also researchers of architecture and its construction.
A new technological adjustment with a tendency to replace analytical information with hyper-reality is obliging us again to have to adapt our ways of producing architecture and building the territory. The leading role played by digital tools is changing in favor of the use of new methodologies, as is the case with BIM information models. In this way, again we must face the challenge of assuming the implementation of BIM in our teaching without rejecting any of the traditional techniques (León Cascante and Pérez Martínez 2018).
