The report presents a study of world literature, charters, recommendations and regulatory standards in the area of restoration of architectural monuments. We have studied the knowledge gained from the time of Schliemann to the present. There is also an analysis of a number of publications from Bulgaria, as well as publications by the author in the same field. Emphasis is placed on geotechnical technologies to restore the foundations of architectural monuments. The practical experience of restoration activities in a number of countries is also extensively presented. This study provides guidance for a series of lectures systematically developed on the same topic.
