Fragmentation-Based Dynamic Size Effect of RCC Under Impact Loadings
Although much work has been done on the dynamic behaviors of concrete, researches regarding the characteristics of concrete fragmentation under impact loadings are still comparatively limited. As the supplementary research on dynamic size effect of RCC from pure strength and deformation, the objective of this study is to further investigate the dynamic size effect of RCC in the view of concrete fragmentation under impact loadings. Based on the experimental results, the fragment size distribution and its association with dynamic behaviors are analyzed deeply to reveal the dynamic size effect. Based on the fractal theory, the fractal fragmentation during crack propagation in RCC specimens is used to reflect the energy dissipation and failure strength. Then, the mechanism of dynamic size effect for RCC under impact loadings is discussed with the macroscopic concrete fragmentation.
