Versions of Orthophosphoric Acids for Slurry Surfacing Mix
Complex studies were performed for the type (food-grade or technical-grade) and origin of orthophosphoric acids (H3PO4) intended for the production of cationic-slow-setting emulsions and Slurry-Surfacing Mix. By means of lab colloid mill there were produced cationic-slow-setting emulsions emulsions (on oxidized low-acid bitumen) with orthophosphoric acids used, namely: food-grade (E338) and technical-grade (originating from Poland, China and Ukraine). The bitumen emulsions formulations were developed for Slurry-Surfacing Mix by Redipave System. The physical-technical indices of bitumen emulsions were determined, along with the conclusions made on their application as a binder for Slurry-Surfacing Mix. The aggregate grading was designed for Slurry-Surfacing Mix and the optimum mix design was performed by the mix time index with chosen bitumen emulsions. The lab samples of Slurry-Surfacing Mix were produced and tested by means of Cohesion Tester. The destructed samples were classified by the modes of rupture, with time-periods of mix curing determined, namely: traffic and cure time-periods.
