Criteria for Special Limiting State of Eccentrically Compressed Members of RC Frames
The problem of assessing the bearing capacity of eccentrically compressed bar members of reinforced concrete frames of buildings under special impacts caused by a sudden failure of an individual member of the structural system is related to the factors of long-term power and environmental resistance which include geometric nonlinearity and nonlinear property of materials, creep, corrosion. The paper presents expressions for assessing the bearing capacity of eccentrically compressed bar reinforced concrete elements of building frames under special impacts caused by the sudden removal of one of the load-bearing elements of the structural system. It is proposed to consider the critical force N < Ncr or other parameters derived from it (critical stiffness, critical time of environmental resistance, critical values of the flexibility of nodal restraints) as criteria for a special limiting state associated with the buckling of individual members of building frames. The use of the proposed criteria allows one to obtain a more complete explanation of the behavior of frame and frame-braced nonlinearly deformable reinforced concrete facilities to progressive collapse under accidental impacts such as sudden column removal scenario.
