Random Walk Modelling Application to Contaminant Transport in the Unsaturated Zone
Abstract Examples of the application of a random walk model for the description of the transport of contaminants in the unsaturated upper soil cover zone are presented. In sections 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 the water household of the cover layer, the transport processes of conservative-and non-conservative contaminating substances are described, respectively. Application of the particle approach to the modelling of pollutant transport allows the use of simple and favourable computer simulation technique. The probabilistic formulation enhances the application of the “armoury” of the probability theory.
