Evaluation of Ductility Ratio of Recycled Aggregate Concrete Beams Under Torsion
Structural element ductility is now important since it is related to structural safety for ultimate limit state and avoiding both too quick and liberal structural collapse. A great deal of research has been done in recent years on assessing and anticipating material ductility. The torsional ductility of rectangular recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) beams was investigated in this work. The concrete of beams was composed of coarse recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) in 0, 50 and 100% replacement instead of natural coarse aggregate (NCA). The effect of RCA on torsional ductility was investigated, and noteworthy findings will help in the design of RAC beams subjected to torsion. Because of the brittle nature of RCA, the average torsional ductility of 50 and 100% RCA concrete beams was found 2.05 and 3.58% poorer than the 0% RCA beam. The ductility of beams reduces as the percentage of RCA increases in RAC under torsion.
