Exploring Office Environment Conditions and Occupants’ Satisfaction
Workplace design plays a crucial role in promoting employee productivity and well-being. This study investigates how basic indoor environmental quality (IEQ) factors influence the perceived productivity of full-time workers and students. Data were collected using a questionnaire from individuals who spend at least six hours daily in a private office or study room. The questionnaire assessed the perceived influence of indoor environmental factors on productivity, drawing on the principles of subjective evaluation used in the Building Use Studies Methodology. Statistical analyses revealed that IEQ factors influence were perceived similar by students and full-time workers and that almost all factors were perceived to be highly influential on the productivity perception of subjects. The results show that among the factors analyzed, only the presence of vegetation was perceived as having little influence although workers and students perceived it slightly differently.
