Understanding Performance and Developing Global Geotechnical Standards
Abstract Major infrastructure project investments are primarily focused on mitigating financial risk in meeting long-term performance criteria/requirements of specific elements of work. Long-term performance of infrastructure facilities rely heavily on a very diligent and a pragmatic design by the geotechnical engineer who not only understands how to design the various elements meeting the prescribed criteria but also has the experience to predict performance over the life of the contract so as to minimize long-term maintenance costs.
