Construction of heated drainage in earth dams in northern construction-climatic zone
Conclusions When designing and constructing thawed earth—rock and earthfill dams in the northern construction—climatic zone it is necessary to specify the following measures for providing reliable and safe operation of the dams. 1. To construct heated drainage in the downstream shoulder for possible formation of seepage paths from the first moment of operation of the dam and elimination of the possibility of an increase of head in the frozen downstream shoulder. 2. To provide conditions of preventing removal of material of the second layer of the reversed filter into the rock fill, for which a transition rock layer of the appropriate size distribution and density is placed.
