On the Concept and Size of a Representative Elementary Volume (Rev)
Abstract This chapter discusses the concept of the Representative Elementary Volume (REV) that serves as a cornerstone in the continuum modeling of transport phenomena in porous media (4). Following the presentation of the concept, quantitative criteria are presented for the selection of the size of the REV.
