Abstract Structural and functional restoration of existing buildings represent today an outstanding activity within the field of constructions. Such a problem arises as a consequence of the great increase of demand in urban centres for buildings fitted with up-to-dated features, but also of the need to preserve valuable constructions from ageing, natural hazards and, last but not least, human misuse.
