Abstract Polysulfide elastomers were first developed in the early 1920’s, when J. C. Patrick discovered the condensation reaction of ethylene dichloride and sodium tetrasulfide. The first production of polysulfide was in 1929 to 1930 by Thiokol Corporation, who manufactured the product Thiokol Type A.
