Foamed epoxy resin composite waterproofing and heat insulation in hydraulic construction
Conclusions 1. Laboratory and field tests and work on an experimental-industrial scale confimed the feasibility of using foamed epoxy resin heat insulation and waterproofing for protecting hydraulic engineering structures operation under variable water levels. 2. Maximum advantages are afforded by the use of foamed epoxy resin heat insulation and waterproofing for thin-walled structures where the use of tie bolts is impermissible, in structures where the weight of the heat insulation and waterproofing is of great importance, for maintenance work on existing hydraulic plants, and in the construction of buildings in inaccessible and thinly populated regions. 3. Of the methods of applying foamed epoxy resin heat insulation and waterproofing, the following may be recommended for practical use: pouring the foaming compound behing a mobile or stock-type shuttering; pouring behind a nondemountable foamed epoxy resin shuttering; attachment of prefabricated slabs; and erection of coated sectional structures. 4. Subsequent practical experience in the use and prolonged operation of foamed epoxy resin heat insulation and waterproofing will make it possible to make a more exact assessment of the most advantageous construction and fields of application.
