Calculation of ethylene glycol production in a reaction-rectification column
Abstract Principles for the development of a mathematical model for a reaction-rectification column are presented. The influence of the main technological parameters on the operation of the rectifying reaction column for ethylene glycol production is considered. It was shown that the reflux/ethylene oxide ratio has an effect primarily on the quality of ethylene glycol withdrawn from the bottom while the pressure in the column influences the reaction rate. The adequacy of the mathematical model of the column was evaluated.
