Determination of wave forces on submerged shore-protection breakwaters in shallow waters
Conclusions 1. The design criterion for determining the stability of a submerged breakwater under lateral loading corresponds to the instant that a wave approaches the structure. 2. Design formulas for determining the wave pressure acting on submerged breakwaters, and the parameters appearing in them, have been improved. 3. Recommendations are proposed for evaluating the wave run-up behind the breakwater and the floor velocities (supplementing the existing design standards). 4. The recommendations presented, based on large-scale laboratory and full-scale investigations, make possible design computations on submerged breakwaters in shallow waters.
