Electron Stimulated Desorption of Neutrals from Alkali Halide Surfaces
Abstract Electron-induced decomposition and erosion of alkali halides have been investigated with mass selected time of flight spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, optical spectroscopy of excited neutrals, surface ionization detector and weight loss measurements. Although most of the results have been obtained for a NaCl (100) crystal, some observations for other alkali halides are also presented.
