    The optimization of operating modes of power plants is addressed. Methods of optimizing the load of power plants are proposed based on the principles of wholesale electricity market. Particular consideration is given to the most effective bid prices. The basic problems encountered in establishing the most effective bid prices and ways of resolving them are indicated.
