Non Linear Models for Cable Stayed Bridges Analysis
Summary In this paper we analyze the non linear behaviour of elastic cables acted upon by dead load and tensile forces. Such cables are often employed in long-span cable-stayed bridges. We also study the stay‘s stiffening obtained by a counterstays system and used to reduce the overall defor-mability of such bridges. The analysis is made by using two non linear finite element models here proposed and suitable to grasp the geometric nonlinearity of these structures.
