A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Railway bridges by definition are structures that carry railway lines over obstructions. These structures represent complex feats of engineering and design, and frequently involve the collaboration of a team of engineers, architects and builders. This chapter classifies and briefly describes the main types of bridges which are commonly used in ordinary and high-speed railway lines. It describes the basic concepts and assumptions for choosing a railway bridge, omitting formulas and theories.
