The Study of Effect of Shear Wall on Building Resting on Hill Slopes
This paper examines the performance of buildings constructed on hilly terrain. Since most of the hilly region in India are earthquake prone therefore the stability of buildings in hilly slope become very important. This paper considers the study of behavior of building on hill slopes with and without shear walls. Shear walls are used to deal with lateral loads like earthquake effectively and efficiently. Shear walls are placed on different locations on different models in hill slope. In this study G + 5 floor building on approximate 20-degree hill slope angle have been modelled using structural analysis software Staad pro. The performance of shear wall placed on different locations across the slope in building on hill slope is also studied. The study emphasizes on suitability of orientation and location of structural wall on hill slope buildings.
