Impact Assessment of Citizen Participation and Service Quality on Citizen Satisfaction in Smart Cities in India
Smart cities are the future of urbanization. Smart cities are the urban regions that use Information and Communication Technology for planning, managing, and monitoring the cities. The Government of India announced its mission to develop 100 Indian cities into smart cities under the Smart City Mission in 2015. The objective of the Smart Cities Mission is to improve the quality of life of citizens living in Indian cities. This research article aims at understanding the impact of citizen participation and service quality on citizen satisfaction in mid-sized smart cities in India. For the purpose of this research, a few hypotheses were developed, and a structured questionnaire was prepared from the literature review. The data was collected from 402 respondents from Pune, Nagpur, and Indore smart cities, and their responses were analyzed using the SPSS version 20.0 statistical package and AMOS version 26.0. The findings of the study reveal that both citizen participation and service quality highly and positively influence citizen satisfaction in smart cities. This study attempts to suggest a research framework to analyze the factors that can influence citizen satisfaction in smart cities.
