Dynamical Behavior of Solids
Abstract We now turn to the treatment of the dynamics of deformable solids. The basis of the discussion is very similar to that of statics in the previous chapter, as the time-dependence adds only one term to the equations relating stress and strain. The formalism we develop here will allow simple problems to be solved, developing an understanding that can be applied to more complex, but often more realistic, problems; these typically must be solved through numerical techniques.
