Some Problems of the Excavation of Sand and Gravel Soils in Riverbeds and their Solution Paths
The subsidence of the levels compared to their previous values at the same flow rates, especially noticeable in low-water seasons, is mainly associated with the excavation of sand and gravel pits on many rivers and continues at present. In small rivers, during the excavation of nonmetallic construction materials, considering some restrictions outlined in the article, compensation measures are possible after the completion of the quarry operations. Insufficiently large rivers, the volumes of seizures are so great that the only way to restore the possibility of navigation and solve other river rehabilitation problems is to construct cascades of low-pressure dams that do not cause flooding floodplains.
